    Kfm understands that a house is being searched in the Leinster region following a major shooting incident at Carlow Shopping centre. The man who died was a white Irish male. A nine-year-old child sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the incident. Gardaí responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 6pm. It is believed a lone gunman opened fire at the scene before being pronounced dead a short time later.

A suspicious device was discovered on the man, prompting the deployment of the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
