The future of Canterbury’s oldest pub is in doubt after a bid was launched to remove its protected status. The 600-year-old King’s Head in Wincheap went on the market last year for £425,000, and now the price has been cut to £350,000. But the owner has also applied to Canterbury City Council to have it de-registered as an ‘asset of community value’.

A sports-mad teenager who died of an aggressive bone cancer aged just 15 will be remembered with affection at a new inter-schools cricket tournament next week. The event has been created by Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys in Canterbury, which was attended by Miles Stockwell before his tragic death on New Year’s Eve 2022.

Two tiger siblings are settling into their new home at a Kent zoo - but they haven’t had to travel far. Duke and Tora were the last remaining residents of the Sandwich Wildlife Park following its closure in 2020. Now they are enjoying their new outdoor enclosure just four miles down the road at Wingham Wildlife Park, where they also have one of the largest tiger houses in the UK and a swimming pool.

Vandals ruined a town’s historic and iconic waterfall just days after it started flowing again following a lengthy and costly restoration. The picturesque feature in Ramsgate’s Maderia Walk was filled with white foam caused by washing-up liquid, sparking dismay and condemnation among residents. Opened in 1890, the waterfall has had a chequered history of failures and vandalism over the decades.
