Iowa Orthopedics plans to open a new medical facility in Kettlestone Central, a new mixed-use development in Waukee. The new facility, which will include orthopedic and urgent injury clinics, physical therapy and MRI services, is expected to open in spring 2026 at 2425 Grand Prairie Parkway. The 15,843-square-foot building will be constructed with mostly brick and metal wall panels. The site plan has been approved by both the Waukee City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission.

The Urbandale City Council has approved the city’s proposed Downtown Master Plan which is designed to revitalize the city’s downtown to create a multi-use district that can be a destination for the community and region. The council unanimously approved the plan on June 16. City staff met with downtown stakeholders in February and held open houses to gather public input in April and May before taking the plan before council.

Michael Carver, a banker and long-time commercial real estate broker in the Des Moines market, died May 27. He was 83. Carver was born in Rochester, Minn., and grew up in Waverly, where he worked for his father, who owned Carver Lumber. He attended the University of Iowa, where he played men’s basketball for three years. He also served six years with the U.S. Army Reserves. Carver moved to Des Moines in 1965, and began his many years of service to the community.
