A FAMILY are offering a ‘significant’ reward for information leading to the return of two hand-crafted ride-on toy cars. The blue Land Rover Defender, with matching trailer, and green Jeep were stolen from Northend, where the Whyman family live. Each Toylander kit car is powered by a golf-buggy-style engine and can reach speeds of 7mph. The metal chassis, fitted with an accelerator, brakes, lights and a horn, are strong enough to carry adults as well as children.

HOMEOWNERS in Long Marston say they are ‘frustrated’ at being trapped in so-called ‘fleecehold’ contracts. Forty households at the Barley Fields development are tied into a leasehold contract, forcing them to stump up hundreds of pounds a year for maintenance of communal outdoor areas. This adds up to a charge on the total estate of £7,500 a year to maintain two strips of scrub land of less than 20 sq m, an attenuation pond and a recently built road.

A WOMAN has told how her elderly mother had £70,000-worth of jewellery stolen while being cared for in hospital. Claire Parriss’s 80-year-old mum was wearing three antique diamond rings when she was rushed to Warwick Hospital, but they later vanished. The three engagement bands, worth between £50,000 to £70,000, were set with high-quality cut and clarity diamonds and were passed down by Claire’s great-grandmother and grandmother.

THE WARWICKSHIRE Hunt was the ‘worst offender’ of illegal fox hunting, according to new figures from animal welfare charity the League Against Cruel Sports. The charity’s end-of-season hunting report recorded 50 incidents involving the Warwickshire Hunt. These include 20 reports of foxes being chased, and 30 reports of ‘hunt havoc’ across this county and neighbouring Oxfordshire. Nationally, there were almost 1,600 incidents – made up of 474 reports connected to suspected illegal hunting.
