Published 12:25 pm Thursday, May 1, 2025 This week, the Nicholasville Rotary Club hosted speaker Golda Borst, head coach of the University of Kentucky women’s golf. She’s finishing up her 15th season on the job and has earned 10 NCAA Regional appearances and eight team championships. The team also broke through with a 2021 NCAA championship Finals berth, the program’s first since 1992. Borst has been the head coach for Kentucky Women’s Golf since 2010.

Published 1:11 pm Wednesday, April 30, 2025 The Nicholasville City Commission met for its last meeting of the month on Monday, April 28. At this meeting, the commission approved a change in the Lake Mingo dam classification, a capital budget amendment for the Nicholasville Police Department (NPD), the Parks and Recreation budget, and more. Anessa Snowden, Director of Nicholasville-Jessamine County Parks and Recreation, presented the Parks and Rec budget to the commission.

Published 1:22 pm Monday, April 28, 2025 Asbury University held its annual President’s Breakfast for the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, April 22. Major announcements at this event included the Nursing Program Launch and Communication Department highlights. The Shaw Collaborative Learning Center at Asbury University had coffee, juice, and water and a self-serve breakfast provided by the university.

Published 1:49 pm Friday, April 25, 2025 It is once again springtime, ushering in bright colors throughout the county and fun family events geared towards children like the Wilmore Coaster Car Derby!Wilmore’s annual Coaster Car Derby is scheduled for Saturday, April 26th on East Main Street. Registration and qualifying tests start at 11 a.m. this upcoming Saturday. Racing begins at 1 p.m. Kid racers must be at least seven years old.

Published 11:46 am Friday, April 25, 2025 Charles Ross was celebrated by Rolling Thunder Chapter 5 at the beginning of April for National Former Prisoner of War Day. The chapter’s members and Ross’s daughter, Barbara, attended the dinner in honor of Ross at Copper River Grill. The chapter also raised money to install a ramp for Barbara’s home for Charles and put up flags on her home while doing the work and upkeep for the flags.
