The Golden Hawk gals conquered the seven team field by earning six first place finishes to finish at the top of the pack with a score of 136. Tipton was the runner-up with 115.

WAYLAND Not letting the rain or weather delays slow them down one bit, it was a record breaking day for Lady Lions track and field as they ran away with the Class B team title at the WACO hosted Ekstrand Relays last Thursday. “I was very pleased with our performance at WACO,” Lone Tree girls track and field head coach Chad Shield said about his team’s first place finish.

ALBURNETTTime was running out and Highland, trailing on the road, was in danger of being shut out for their third consecutive game but the offensive efforts of Jared Diaz broke through when they needed it the most. With under nine minutes left, Diaz scored an equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw for the Highland Huskies (6-4-1) against the Cedar Valley Christian Huskies (4-5-2) last Friday. “Not our best, certainly not our worst,” Highland coach Dylan Stewart said after Highland battled CVC to a tie.

KALONAA pair of conference duals were on the agenda for Hillcrest golf, as the boys and girls teams hosted Louisa-Mucatine last Thursday. After nine holes played the day was split with the Raven boys (11-1) picking up a 168-204 victory over the Falcons (8-18) and the Raven girls (0-11) being defeated, 235-243, by the Falcons (5-9). The boys contest featured senior Liam Schrock and junior Rowan Miller leading the Ravens to victory.

KALONAWith six goals on the board by the time halftime arrived it was safe to say Hillcrest was having fun on senior night and for this team, led by its eight seniors, fun is never in short supply. “Some people wonder if they ever take anything seriously,” Hillcrest coach Marcus Miller said with a smile about his seniors after the Ravens (5-2-1) cruised to a 11-2 victory over Sigourney Keota (1-8) on April 29.
