SDePER is built upon the combination of a conditional variational autoencoder (CVAE) [34] and a graph Laplacian regularized regression model (GLRM). The CVAE component aims to remove platform effects and the GLRM component aims to estimate cell-type compositions at each spot based on cell-type-specific signatures from reference scRNA-seq data with considerations of sparsity and spatial correlation of cell-type compositions between neighboring spots in the tissue.
