The dispute centers on the Delaware County Investment Advisory Committee (IAC), which is comprised of Rankey and commissioners Jeff Benton and Barb Lewis.

A local resident has published a collection of essays and poetry to raise money to plant more than 1,200 seedling trees in Delaware County. Adam Willis, a lifelong Delaware resident and recent graduate of Otterbein University where he studied biology, English and creative writing, said his project is called “Rot Collection: Psalms of Loss.” The idea, he added, originated from a course he took with Dr. Shannon Lakanen at Otterbein University two years ago.

The Strand Theatre held a special screening of the film “Beyond the Bridge: A Solution to Homelessness” and hosted a panel discussed aimed at centering the issue to Delaware County. The discussion was part of the Strand’s “Meaningful Movies” series, which has been screening movies focused on homelessness every Tuesday this month.

The Delaware City Schools Board of Education took the first step toward adding a levy to the November ballot and set an open house to commemorate the retirement of Superintendent Heidi Kegley at its meeting earlier this week. The board held its regular meeting Monday in the board room at Willis Education Center and approved a resolution to start the process of placing a 2.85-mill permanent improvement tax levy on the November 2025 ballot.

Delaware County voters approved the Delaware County District Library’s request for an additional 1-mill levy that DCDL plans to use for renovations and increased services. The Delaware County Board of Elections reports there were 9,115 (56.44%) votes in support of the levy with 7,035 (43.56% against the levy during Tuesday’s election. The 15-year levy will collect more than $10 million for the library annually and will cost $35 for every $100,000 of valuation. Collection begins next year.
