SUNBURY — The Big Walnut Board of Education unanimously voted to censure one of its members at Monday’s meeting. The resolution, which was read aloud at the meeting, said, “WHEREAS, the Big Walnut Local School District (District) Board of Education (Board) expects its members to adhere to the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct through Board Bylaw 0123, its Governance Team Protocols, and the policies that the Board has adopted.
Barons bury Warriors, stay atop CBL

The Buckeye Valley baseball team maintained its spot atop the Central Buckeye League standings Monday, using a six-run seventh inning to cruise past host Worthington Christian 11-2. The win over the Warriors was the second in as many games for the Barons. Last week’s showdown in Delaware, a 4-1 BV win, was close throughout. The rematch at Worthington Christian was close too … until it wasn’t.
Series debuts at Strand

The Strand Theatre held a premiere event Thursday for the first episode of “Gabriel and the Guardians,” an animated series created by Delaware resident Jason Moody. The event was attended by more than 200 members of the community. Moody began working on the show during the COVID pandemic in 2020 and entered full production of the show with Angel Studios in 2023. The first episode launched on the Angel Studios streaming service earlier this year.

The Olentangy Orange softball team got back on track after Monday’s loss to Hilliard Bradley, notching a walk-off win against rival Olentangy Liberty on Wednesday before outslugging host Hilliard Davidson for another OCC win just a day later. The Patriots, ranked sixth in the state in the first coaches poll of the season, jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead thanks to three straight hits — Aubrey Del Cecato singled, Kailey McGinnis doubled and Hailey Massie singled to bring both home.

The Olentangy Orange baseball team got a stellar start from Reid Hemrick on the mound, but visiting Upper Arlington got to him early and made it hold up en route to 2-1 OCC-Central Division win Wednesday in Lewis Center. The biggest hit for the Golden Bears, who managed just three off Hemrick through six innings, came three batters in. After R Szollosi worked a walk, Drew Golowin hit a home run to left to account for all the runs his team would need.

Library on ballot next month

The Delaware County District Library will be on the ballot next month asking voters to approve an additional 1-mill levy it plans to use to increase services and renovate facilities. According to the Delaware County Board of Elections, the levy would collect more than $10 million for the library annually if approved by voters during the May 6 election. Ballot language states the 15-year levy would cost $35 for every $100,000 of valuation and would be first due in 2026.
