    CHARLOTTE — The 17th Annual Salute to Heroes hockey game was held at Bojangles Coliseum Saturday afternoon. The event featured the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC, along with members of the community. This year marked the first game since four officers were killed and four others were hurt in an ambush on Galway Drive in east Charlotte.     Police investigate homicide, identify victim in UptownCharlotte-Mecklenburg Police taped off about half of the Charlotte Transportation Center to investigate a fatal shooting on Saturday night. MEDIC responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. An ambulance sped off alongside a police car as Channel 9′s Glenn Counts arrived at the scene. Officials said that the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

    CHARLOTTE — President Donald Trump announced tariff exemptions on Saturday for electronics such as laptops and smartphones as 145% tariffs take effect on goods from China. But tariffs on a wide range of goods from multiple countries are still in effect and of more importance to local business owners like Pape Ndiaye, who owns House of Africa in Charlotte. Ndiaye said many local mom and pop shops rely on imported goods from around the world. And some of the shops’ owners are worried.

    RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina legislators have been negotiating a bill that would affect requirements for concealed carry. The bill, if approved, would allow people to conceal carry without a permit and without training. Proponents of the bill said the law would only provide that right to law-abiding citizens. Channel 9′s Glenn Counts spoke to advocates on both sides of the issue.
