The station is part of the Cox Media Group, which also owns the independent station WAXN-TV (channel 64) licensed in Kannapolis. Both WSOC-TV and WAXN-TV operate from shared studios situated at the intersection of North Tryon and West 23rd streets, just north of downtown Charlotte. The transmitter for WSOC-TV is positioned near Reedy Creek Park in the Newell area of the city.
