Authorities at Fort Leonard Wood arrest a murder suspect from North Carolina. The Fayetteville Police Department says Tyrique Williams, 26, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was arrested by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division Wednesday. He’s being held in the Pulaski County Jail pending extradition back to North Carolina. Williams is charged with first-degree murder and concealment of death in connection with the murder of Annie Lock. Lock was reported missing in October of 2024.
Two children from Jefferson City seriously injured in hydroplane accident in Laclede County

Two children from Jefferson City are seriously injured when the car they’re riding in hydroplanes in Laclede County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 35-year-old woman from Jefferson City was driving down Highway 5, about six miles north of Lebanon, this morning, when she hydroplaned. An SUV then struck the side of her car. The driver suffered minor injuries. But two of her passengers, a 16-yer-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries.
Missouri House gives final approval to bill putting abortion issue before voters again

The Missouri House passes a bill that would put a constitutional amendment on abortion on the ballot for the second year in a row. The House voted 103-51 today to pass HJR 73. The bill now heads to the Senate. The resolution would repeal Amendment 3, which restored abortion rights in the state when voters approved it this past November. It would prohibit abortions, except in cases of medical emergencies, rape, or incest.
Columbia man charged with shooting last week now charged in road rage incident

A Columbia man charged in connection with a shooting last week now faces new charges in connection with a road rage incident. Jadon Gooldy, 20, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and fourth-degree assault earlier today. He’s being held without bond. The charges stem from an incident that took place near the intersection of North Providence and Leslie Lane last Friday. A victim told police that he accidentally cut off Gooldy in traffic.
Car hydroplanes near Eldon, causing three-vehicle crash with serious injuries

Two Miller County women are injured, one seriously, when a car hydroplanes and causes a three-vehicle crash near Eldon. The crash happened on Highway 54, just west of Katelyn Drive, around 7:00 this morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 29-year-old woman from Eldon began to hydroplane and ran off the right side of the roadway. Troopers say the woman’s car returned to the road and crossed the center line, into the path of a minivan.
Missouri Legislative Black Caucus discusses abortion, gun control, in session update

The Missouri Legislative Black Caucus is speaking out against measures dealing with abortion and gun control. The Missouri House gave initial approval this week to HJR 73. That bill would ask voters to approve a constitutional amendment prohibiting abortions, with exceptions for medical emergencies, rape, or incest. FEMA to assess March 30 storm damage for individual, public assistance

FEMA will be in Missouri over the next couple of weeks to assess damage done by severe storms and flooding last month. Governor Mike Kehoe announced yesterday that FEMA will participate in joint Preliminary Damage Assessments of public infrastructure in 25 Missouri counties impacted by storms that started on March 30. Six teams will start those PDAs next Tuesday to determine if public assistance is available to repair and replace damaged roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure.
Detached garage in Gasconade County destroyed

A detached garage in Gasconade County is destroyed by fire. The Owensville Fire Department says crews were called to a structure fire in the 1200 block of Kings Highway, about ten miles west of Drake, just before midnight Tuesday night. When crews arrived on the scene, they found a detached garage fully involved with fire. The roof had also partially collapsed. The garage was destroyed but no injuries were reported. The fire has been ruled as accidental in nature.
Rain and storms expected in mid-Missouri through the weekend

Lots of rain and the possibility of severe storms are on tap for the next couple of days. The National Weather Service says there is a possibility for showers and thunderstorms this morning along and south of I-70. The main risk of any storms would be hail, and that risk should be diminished by this afternoon. There’s also a chance of strong to severe storms late Friday afternoon and evening. Those storms could produce one-inch hail, 60 mph winds, and lots of rain.

One person dies, and another is injured, in an early morning house fire in eastern Morgan County. The Gravois Fire Protection District says it was around 5:00 this morning when crews were called to a residential structure fire in the 9000 block of Acorn Drive, about four miles south of Rocky Mount. A neighbor had called 9-1-1 to report heavy fire conditions, spreading into nearby woods. The caller also said an occupant could be trapped inside the home.
