Heavy times require something or someone to laugh along with. Jeremy Hotz will be at Casino Regina tonight (Friday). Tickets are still available at the Casino box office. The 620 CKRM Saskatchewan Roughrider Pep Band is holding an open house Sunday at 1:30 at Harvard Lounge, Mosaic Stadium. Musicians 19 yrs or older come with your woodwind, brass or percussion knowledge and instrument for an afternoon of playing.

Looking for a new mattress is like trying on shoes, getting new glasses, buying a new car. Looking for a new mattress is like, giving up on an old friend, but finding out that change is probably a good thing. One of the most satisfying things you can do, is clean your ears. Did you know the ear is self cleaning! The ear canal is constantly pulling wax out of the ear. But I suppose there is something gratifying about using a cotton swab to see the wax build-up. The strange and unusual things that have been found in ears include: a moth, glass, maggots, a dandelion, a tooth. My goodness, how on earth do these things happen.

Tuesday was Harlem Globetrotter Day. The history goes like this: Abe Saperstein founded the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team in 1926. They were initially known as the Savoy Big Five, after the famous Savoy Ballroom in Chicago, where they held their first performances. The original team members were all African-Americans from the south side of Chicago, and they didn’t play in Harlem until four decades after the team’s formation. The team embodies qualities of human persistence and creativity.

Winter activities might be a bit daunting if you weren’t privy to skiing, skating or snowshoes when you grew up. Enter the City of Regina. This winter you’ll be able to join in some free events, whether public skating at a variety of city rinks or making the rounds on the weekends to a Try It Free Session. Throughout January from 1 to 4pm at the North West Leisure Centre you’ll be able to try snowshoeing, play outdoor games and do crafts.
