    THE era following the fall of the Roman Empire was called The Dark Ages. A transitional period following the collapse of the established world order before a new world order arose. American hegemony did not last Rome's 500 years and although the USA may have led the world in living memory, America’s century is over (it only really lasted about 80 years).   A new Dark Age is upon us and the political elites and institutions of the West are powerless to resist.

    New analysis from the Resolution Foundation shows that low- and middle-income families in the UK are poorer than those in any other European country. This is caused by soaring housing prices, which are 44% higher in the UK compared to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average. The think tank showed that UK prices are 8% higher than the average in the 38 countries in the OECD.

    Tommy Sheppard and Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp disagreed over the role of a Citizens' Convention (Image: NQ) I feel the need to respond to the article in The National by Tommy Sheppard entitled: "We must take this step to independence before a citizens' convention". The article focuses on Tommy’s response to Believe in Scotland’s report, "The Scottish Citizens’ Convention: Creating a Better Scotland". Now I want to be clear that I am not having a go at Tommy.
