The National (Scotland)

The National is a daily newspaper based in Scotland, owned by Newsquest, that started its journey on November 24, 2014. It was the first daily publication in Scotland to advocate for Scottish independence, emerging from the demand of Newsquest's audience following the 2014 Scottish independence referendum. The National is linked to The Herald and the Sunday Herald and has Callum Baird as its editor. Initially available only on weekdays, a Saturday edition was introduced in May 2015. The newspaper is printed in a tabloid format and can also be accessed through an online subscription.

Under the White Paper proposals, migrants will have to spend 10 years in the UK before being able to apply for citizenship, but so-called “high-contributing” individuals such as doctors and nurses could be fast-tracked through the system. Language requirements will be increased for all immigration routes to ensure a higher level of English.
