It's another rainy day in the Tennessee Valley and we're all waking up to light, scattered showers. As we move through the morning, rain will get heavier and a few strong thunderstorms in the Shoals cannot be ruled out. As a result a level 1/5 severe weather risk in the Shoals is in effect this morning and into the early afternoon. The greatest threats there are isolated small hail and 40-50 mph winds. High temperatures this afternoon will rise to the upper 70s.

The last bit of last night's rain is getting out the way as we speak and should be drying out by the time most of us head out the door to school and to work. We'll keep the chance for spotty drizzle throughout Wednesday but after this Morning's rain dries up, many of us will end up staying completely dry. Dense fog is impacting almost all of us near I-65 decreasing visibility and likely making your morning commute take a little longer, as a result.

Things are currently calm and cloudy in the Tennessee Valley but more rain and storms will come to us later today leaving us in a level 1/5 risk for severe weather. Today's rain and storm coverage will increase gradually. It starts this morning with very isolated, drizzly rain. By lunchtime, that rain is still fairly light but will be much more widespread and covering much of the area.

The Tennessee Valley is in a level 1/5 severe weather risk later this afternoon and into this evening. The greatest threats with this system include small hail and 40-50 mph winds. This will be a typical summertime set up with many of us seeing scattered yet heavy rain but a few stronger to severe thunderstorms developing within that rain. Those isolated thunderstorm cells will be the ones with the potential for hail and gusty winds. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.
