Residents in Pettis County said violence in the area is rare, after two deputies were shot early Friday morning. Federal prosecutors charged James Joseph Elsea with being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting. A public information officer with Troop A told KRCG 13 both of the officers' injuries were non-life threatening. According to MSHP, one deputy was released from a local hospital on Friday.
