Tadashi “Tad” Nakamura documents the final days of his father, filmmaking pioneer Robert “Bob” Nakamura, in his sophomore feature, “Third Act.” “Third Act” was nominated for the Documentary – Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival this year, and has started to make its rounds on the local film festival circuit. Now, the film – a bittersweet reflection on Asian American history, as personified through Robert “Bob” Nakamura’s legacy and humanity – will open this year’s CAAMFest 2025.

While Japan is not typically known for its stop-motion animation, director Takeshi Yashiro is taking charge of the scene. His film, “Norman the Snowman: On a Night of Shooting Stars” (2021) marks one of the latest of an exclusively stop-motion filmography, including the original “Norman the Snowman” (2014), “Moon of a Sleepness Night” (2017), and “Gon, the Little Fox” (2019).
