JOHANNESBURG (BP) – Josh Sullivan, the pastor who was abducted by armed and masked men last week as he preached, was rescued yesterday (April 15) by police after a shootout with his captors in a nearby township. Officers in a “multi-disciplinary law enforcement operation,” said a police statement, received information that Sullivan was being held in a safe house. On approaching the house the team observed a vehicle, whose occupants attempted to flee and opened fire after seeing the officers.

(BP) – A church secretary in Florida has been arrested and charged with grand theft after it was discovered she had racked up more than $570,000 in personal charges on a church credit card over a period of years. Melissa Ganey English, 44, was a financial secretary for Amelia Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist congregation in Fernandina Beach, from January 2019 to October of last year.

Perhaps he could read to him and maybe they could go to the zoo. Sam had watched his mama’s belly swell and waited months for his brother Timothy Jacob Green – TJ – to be born. In Utero, TJ was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. He lived 56 days, much of it in home hospice.

NASHVILLE (BP) — Deadly weekend storms across several southern states and into the Midwest have prompted a widescale response on the part of Send Relief and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Tornadoes, dust storms and wildfires are reported to be responsible for at least 40 deaths. At least eight of those were from a massive pileup of cars in Kansas that involved at least 70 vehicles.

MIGNON, Ala. – At least two Alabama Baptist churches sustained damage in the storms Saturday evening, March 15 — Calera Baptist from a tornado, and Mignon Baptist in Sylacauga from flooding. Alabama was one of many states impacted by a weekend of deadly storms. Mignon Baptist was sheltering between 80 and 100 people in its basement-level fellowship hall when the water started pouring in, according to Pastor Jeremy Brown.
