Sao Paulo Fashion Week’s 51st edition will run until June 27. Due to the pandemic, the event is once again wholly digital, as it was last November when it celebrated its 25th anniversary. The 51st edition of Sao Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) ended on June 27 after showcasing the collections of a total of 43 designers. The event ran in a wholly digital format for the second consecutive season due to the country’s ongoing battle to bring its Covid-19 outbreak under control. A diversity quota was imposed last season requiring 50 percent of the models participating in SPFW fashion shows to be Black, people of African descent and/or Indigenous people.

Rafael Pavarotti is one of Katie Grand’s favourite collaborators. Grand, who describes the Brazilian photographer’s work as “mind-blowing,” has cast him for high-profile gigs like the Rihanna cover of Perfect. That’s high praise in fashion circles where Grand is considered one of the most influential magazine founders, editors and ‘super-stylists’ of her generation. Even though she had worked with Pavarotti on several occasions before, Grand was bowled over by his latest feat of improvisation.
