    Election denial is fueled by lies, polarization — and money. In many races, wealthy donors have exploited weak and poorly enforced campaign finance laws to boost the efforts of election deniers. A legislative race in the battleground state of Wisconsin offers a telling example. After the state’s GOP assembly speaker, Robin Vos, rebuffed calls to decertify the state’s 2020 election results, he faced a 2022 primary challenge from an election denier, Adam Steen.

    Since 2000, the number of Latinos in any elected office has nearly doubled. In 2022, voters sent a record number of Latinos to Congress. The midterms also saw the largest class of Latinos serving in statewide executive office and the reelection of the nation’s first Democratic Latina governor.  Despite these historic gains, fewer than 2 percent of elected officials are Latino — a community that makes up almost 20 percent of the U.S. population. And one reason, increasingly, is fear.

    When Massachusetts’ minimum wage increased from $14.25 to $15 per hour on Jan. 1, most student workers at the College who are paid hourly saw their wages increase by 75 cents. The range of pay rates for hourly student jobs changed from $14.25-15.50 to $15-16 per hour.

    Snowfall can be a bit of a nuisance. For some members of the College’s staff, it sparks a full-blown mobilization. On nights when snow or ice accumulates, groundskeepers and other facilities staff often start work at 4 a.m., clearing roads, paths, parking lots, and other essential surfaces. Throughout the day, they are assisted by dozens of custodial and trades staff, who clean stairs, walkways, and entryways.
