    Latinos make up approximately 19% of the U.S. population. Twenty-seven percent of our Florida neighbors identify as Latino, a quarter of Florida’s population. We are the fastest-growing voting bloc in the nation. We wield great economic and political power, yet when it comes to political representation, we are one of the most underrepresented demographics in the United States.

    Since 2000, the number of Latinos in any elected office has nearly doubled. In 2022, voters sent a record number of Latinos to Congress. The midterms also saw the largest class of Latinos serving in statewide executive office and the reelection of the nation’s first Democratic Latina governor.  Despite these historic gains, fewer than 2 percent of elected officials are Latino — a community that makes up almost 20 percent of the U.S. population. And one reason, increasingly, is fear.

    Are Latino voters moving to the right? The Latino electorate reflects much of America's Latino communities: incredibly diverse and rapidly growing. The number of U.S. Latino voters to 34.5 million in 2022. That's up almost 5 million from 2018. No other group is growing this fast. Our voters are as diverse as our community, which has always been made up of liberal, moderate, and conservative Latinos whose politics vary according to region, background, socioeconomic status, and life experiences.
