The Trump administration has deleted a list of sanctuary jurisdictions, which included seven North Dakota counties, after receiving national backlash for adding a multitude of jurisdictions that have supported the administration's immigration policies. The Department of Homeland Security removed the list of jurisdictions they claimed obstruct the enforcement of federal immigration laws from their website on Sunday. Now, a “page not found” message is all that appears in its place.

BISMARCK — North Dakota Senate Majority Leader David Hogue on Wednesday directed Legislative Council to prepare a briefing on five scenarios that could result in a special legislative session. The meeting was mostly focused on picking topics for studies to be conducted by interim committees, ranging from state employee compensation and the use of the Capitol Building Fund for the construction of a legislative office building to taxation on stripper wells and homelessness in the state.

Seven North Dakota counties were named “sanctuary jurisdictions” by the Trump administration this week -- a label used to describe governments that allegedly hinder federal immigration enforcement -- leaving local officials confused and pushing back against what they called mischaracterization. Billings, Golden Valley, Grant, Morton, Ramsey, Sioux and Slope counties were included in the list compiled by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Thursday.

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora completed its first phase of construction this month, according to Mercer Mass Timber, an organization that helped with designing the library and is providing building materials for the project. Phase one of construction began a year ago and centered on the museum building. With phase one complete, the exoskeleton of the building is finished, according to Matt Briney, the chief communications and marketing officer for the library.

Burke County became the latest North Dakota county to confirm a case of measles on Thursday, joining Williams, Grand Forks and Cass counties. The case confirmed in Burke County brings the total number of cases to 28 since May 2, when the first case of the outbreak was confirmed. North Dakota Health and Human Services said investigations show no evidence of community spread in Burke, Cass or Grand Forks counties, so early vaccination is not yet recommended.
