Hutto Flower Market & Boutique announced its decision to permanently close on social media in late May. The business, owned by Misty and Shawn Faglie, first opened in 2019. For nearly six years, the shop offered flowers and arrangements to the Hutto community. After operating a storefront in downtown Hutto, the business transitioned to a private studio in 2024, serving customers through online or phone orders, as well as we in-person appointments.

Round Rock City Council approved a contract for engineering services for an improvement project at the Round Rock Recycling Center in May. Police Chief Jason O’Malley retired from the Pflugerville Police Department May 29, ending a five-year stint as chief with the city. OverviewO’Malley, who previously served as a commander for the department, was named in an active administrative investigation, according to a news release from the city of Pflugerville. The city stated it does not comment on active investigations. O’Malley was appointed to serve as police chief in September 2021. Stephen Griffith was named the interim police chief.

The drive-thru drink shop Swig recently signed a lease to take over 1,500 square feet of space at The Commons at Star Ranch, commercial real estate firm ARVO Ventures announced via social media in March. The Utah-based company specializes in “dirty sodas,” offering customizable soda drinks, non-soda beverages and energy drinks. Customers can combine a variety of flavors, syrups and creams blended with a classic soda, such as Coke or Dr. Pepper.
