JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The husband of Jacksonville court bailiff, Cathy Adams, who was killed in a 2018 DUI crash, is opening up about the moments leading up to her death and a $30.5 million verdict from a jury. In December 2018, the Adams family was driving back from a high school football championship game when a drunk driver, Kim Johnston, hit their SUV causing it to roll over. Their two children were in the car. They were in high school at the time. Cathy Adams lost her life in the crash.

ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. — For the first time, St. Augustine Beach officially recognized Black History Month. The city made history this week by issuing a proclamation that the mayor and residents said has been a long time coming. "I'm a big believer that in life, there's always a second chance," Mayor Dylan Rumrell told First Coast News. Back in 1964, St. Augustine Beach was the site of a civil rights protest.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Hundreds of people have been taken into U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in the past 48 hours. According to the agency, more than 950 were arrested Sunday and another 1,100 more on Monday. As ICE conducts immigration sweeps across the nation, some in Jacksonville are happy with the mass deportations. For others, tensions are running high.

TEMPLE, Texas — Tiny Hooves Rescue and Petting Zoo, Central Texas' largest nonprofit livestock and exotic animal rescue, is preparing for a major transition as it relocates from Temple to the Texas Panhandle. Founded by Shelby Michalewicz nearly a decade ago, Tiny Hooves has grown to house nearly 200 animals, including disabled cows, goats, sheep, turkeys, ringtail lemurs, chinchillas and parrots. The rescue specializes in caring for disabled animals, bottle babies, surrendered pets and strays.
