It wasn't necessarily surprising to hear that the New York Mets were interested in acquiring free agent pitcher Clay Holmes this past offseason, as Holmes solidified himself as one of baseball's best relievers over his past few seasons spent with the New York Yankees. However, when it came out that the Mets were interested in making Holmes a starting pitcher instead of keeping him as a reliever, this decision raised a lot of eyebrows.

On May 2, "King" Ryan Garcia suffered a disappointing upset defeat against Rolly Romero in the main event of Riyadh Season's "Fatal Fury" card that took place in New York City's Times Square. Boxing fans were hoping that this fight could make up for the consecutive lackluster bouts that occurred on the undercard.

It's interesting to hear that Mets No. 15 overall prospect Blake Tidwell is on the White Sox's radar, as opposed to some of the organization's other top-rated pitching prospects. Robert Jr. has struggled to start the season, hitting .186 with a .619 OPS and 5 home runs entering May 11. This is surely the reason why the trade market around him has been slow to this point.

The Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever faced off during a WNBA preseason game on May 10, with the Fever ultimately winning by a score of 81-76. Of course, one of the most important aspects of preseason games is that they give rookies a chance to show what they can do, hopefully in order to secure a spot on their team's roster.

The Indiana Fever finished their 2025 WNBA postseason with a 3-0 record after their 81-76 win over the Atlanta Dream on May 10. While the game was exciting enough for Fever fans, perhaps the most compelling moment from the day came postgame, when Fever star Aliyah Boston was speaking with Dream players moments after the game ended when Atlanta guard Naz Hillmon approached her, pushed her shoulder with her left hand, pointed her finger in Boston's chest, and began speaking at her.

While Devin Haney emerged victorious during his May 2 fight against Jose Ramirez in Times Square, the backlash he has received because of how boring the fight was makes it feel like Haney lost to many. Of course, the most important thing for Haney was to secure a victory after he lost on the night of his last fight against Ryan Garcia back in April 2024, although the fight verdict was ultimately deemed a No Contest because Garcia tested positive for Ostarine, a performance-enhancing drug.

The Indiana Fever capped off a perfect preseason on May 10, as they defeated the Atlanta Dream in their third and final WNBA preseason game by a score of 81-76. Well, perhaps this preseason wasn't completely perfect for Indiana, because most would agree that one of (if not the) most important part of the preseason is ensuring that players stay healthy. Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has been dealing with quad tightness of late, but it didn't keep her out of the team's game on Saturday.

The Indiana Fever improved to 3-0 in the 2025 WNBA preseason with their 81-76 win over the Atlanta Dream on May 10. Therefore, the Fever have only experienced winning this preseason, as they gear up for their 2025 regular season debut against the Chicago Sky on May 17. While the Fever added a lot of new weapons to their offense this past offseason, this doesn't take away from the fact that third-year star center Aliyah Boston is a crucial aspect of their team's success.

While the Chicago Sky's 2025 WNBA Draft pick that has gotten the most attention to this point is Hailey Van Lith (who they drafted with the No. 11 overall pick), they also selected three other players: Ajša Sivka (No. 10 overall), Maddy Westbeld (No. 16 overall), and Aicha Coulibaly (No. 22 overall). Westbeld played her college ball at Notre Dame and figures to have a decent chance of making the Sky's roster this season. She was also interviewed by Jack Maloney of CBS Sports on May 10.

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark received six technical fouls during her rookie 2024 regular season. If she had received one more, she would have been suspended for a game. Clark has earned a reputation for speaking her mind with referees, even if the byproduct is a technical foul and an easy free throw for the opposing team. While Clark has said several times this past offseason that she was going to try and limit her technicals in 2025 to two, she isn't off to a good start in that regard.
