    COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A 12-year-old Midlands girl is the recipient of two organs in a single procedure. The combined heart and kidney transplant, performed last November at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston, is believed to be the first successful procedure of its kind in South Carolina history. Skylar Brown was first diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy in January of 2023, after battling the flu and pneumonia.

Matthew Ariwoola is 32 years old and originally from Nigeria. He is studying and teaching at USC under an F-1 visa.
