The vice-chancellor of the Australian National University (ANU) has vowed to stay the course amid sustained pressure on her leadership, while blasting her most vocal critics for using her gender as a tactic to undermine her. Genevieve Bell was appointed ANU vice-chancellor at the start of 2024, and has been leading a significant project seeking to make $250 million in savings by the end of the year.

Adam Bandt has put Anthony Albanese on notice the Greens would seek to formally lock in their support for a "stable effective and progressive" parliament if Labor fell short of a majority at the next election.
