Ohio State got its first commitment of the 2028 class when running back Elijah Newman-Hall pledged his services to the Buckeyes on Friday morning. Newman-Hall was on campus for a one-day recruiting camp on Tuesday and was offered a scholarship that day. The Tampa, Fla., native rushed for 829 yards and eight touchdowns on 80 carries in 10 games in his high school freshman season while also playing defense, with 28 tackles.

Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork provided some clarity on Thursday about what revenue sharing will look like at Ohio State after the recent House v. NCAA settlement, saying that football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s volleyball will be the first four sports that money will be allocated to. OSU is allowed $20.5 million to distribute to its student-athletes, with $2.5 million of that going to scholarships, making $18 million available to distribute between each sport.

At the third one-day recruiting camp that Ohio State held on Tuesday, four-star defensive lineman Reinaldo Perez went in hoping to show defensive line coach Larry Johnson that he has what it takes to be a Buckeye. Perez came out of the camp mostly pleased with what he put onto the field, but also with some things he thinks he can work on moving forward. “I feel like it went alright,” Perez told BSB. “There’s definitely some stuff I could work on. There’s always room for improvement.

Ohio State gained another commitment in its 2026 class when Delaware (Ohio) Rutherford B. Hayes four-star running back Favour Akih (6-0, 190) pledged his services to the Buckeyes on Sunday on the final day of his official visit weekend. He is the 14th commitment in the 2026 class, but the first running back that position coach Carlos Locklyn has been able to land this cycle. Akih chose the Buckeyes over Miami (Fla.) and USC.
