CALUMET, Mich. (WLUC) - A community-based arts organization opened its new doors. Copper Country Associated Artists moved from the 200 block of Fifth Street in downtown Calumet to 177 Fifth St.The group formed in the early 1960s. There are about 45 members in the CCAA today. CCAA President John Dodge says the group serves two main purposes. “Provide an opportunity in the Copper Country for continuing development of skills and knowledge in the visual arts,” Dodge said.

ST. IGNACE, Mich. (WLUC) - After years of trying to start a new project in the Straits of Mackinac, a decision could come soon. The Great Lakes Line 5 Tunnel Project is a proposed $800 million tunnel. It aims to safeguard a pipeline carrying crude oil and natural gas liquids. “We really feel it’s kind of the next evolution of safe transportation here in the Straits of Mackinac,” said Enbridge Community Engagement Manager Paul Meneghini. Construction on the project could begin this fall.
