The new program started last week, and almost 30 banners are still being put up.     POWERS, Mich. (WLUC) - Many fish were released into the Big Cedar River by the 4th grade class of Woodland Elementary Tuesday. The fish were salmon, raised by those same students, since the beginning of the school year. Now mature enough for the wild, students took turns setting them free. Woodland Elementary 4th-grade Teacher Mike Olson says students took an active role in raising the fish.

    ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - We have an update to Delta County travel as the Delta Area Transit Authority says there’s no quick fix for the loss of JN Taxi. On May 2nd, TV6 reported JN Taxi planned to close its doors this month. It was the only taxi service in Delta County. The company stopped operations this past weekend. Today, DATA answered questions from worried riders at its first community listening session. Concerns included work, weekend and hospital transportation.

It was the first day of a three-day tour through Central U.P. schools focused on talking about drinking and drugs in a way kids would understand. Escanaba High School students say kids their age have ways to get drugs and drink alcohol. “You hear stories about it all the time,” Senior Maggie Martin said.
