President Cyril Ramaphosa and US President Donald Trump are due to meet next week. President Cyril Ramaphosa maintains his position that the government will not be bullied as he prepares to lead a delegation to the White House, says minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni. Ntshavheni was briefing the media after the ordinary cabinet briefing on Thursday. Ramaphosa’s office announced on Wednesday he will embark on a four-day working visit to Washington from Monday.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order to cut US financial assistance to South Africa, the White House said on Friday, citing disapproval of its land policy and of its genocide case at the International Court of Justice against Washington's ally Israel. The US allocated nearly $440m (R8.1bn) in assistance to South Africa in 2023, the most recent US government data shows.
