MACAO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The launch ceremony and compilation sharing session for the Macao Gazetteer Series: Book of Geography were held on Monday at the University of Macao. The Macao Gazetteer Series: Book of Geography was the first gazetteer of Macao completed since the founding of the People's Republic of China, said Ho Iat Seng, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

MACAO, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The 32nd Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office, commenced on Saturday night and will last till Oct. 6. Canadian and Thai companies presented the first two feasts for the audience, and Russian and French fireworks shows were scheduled for Sunday. According to the organizer, 10 teams will showcase their skills on Saturday, Sunday, Sept. 21 as well as Oct. 1 and 6.

World No. 1 Sun beat South Korea's Jeon Ji-hee 3-0 (14-12, 12-10, 11-1), while Wang registered a 3-1 (11-7, 11-4, 5-11, 11-9) victory over Bernadette Szocs of Romania.

MACAO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- China's Macao saw the Special Administrative Region's (SAR) total population rise to 686,400 at the end of the first quarter of this year. The figure marks an increase of 2,700 quarter on quarter, showed data released by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) of Macao on Thursday. The DSEC attributed the increase mainly to a rise in the number of non-resident workers living in Macao.

Despite heavy rains during the holiday, the number of daily average arrivals to Macao hit 121,000, with 154,000 arrivals on May 3.

During his visit, Prachanda is scheduled to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. Born on Dec. 11, 1954, Prachanda founded the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) in 1995. He served twice as Nepal's prime minister in 2008-2009 and in 2016-2017 respectively.
