And so, the seasonal glow of this time of year begins to fade as we head into the new year. By this point, people are coming back home from travel, making resolutions to work off those holiday treats and our littlest residents are enjoying their bounties from this year’s Saint Nicholas visit. Corsicana is good at celebrating Christmas. The city does its part in balancing out festive and colorful with the more reflective nature of the reason for the season.

Chain retailer Big Lots is going out of business and liquidating all 900-plus of its stores after a deal with its buyer fell through. Over 100 of those locations reside in Texas. The company, which was founded in 1967 as Consolidated Stores Corporation, has already closed hundreds of its stores throughout 2024.
