It was only when I clicked the "payment" button on a hard-gained hotel reservation for a weekend in Fukuoka, gateway to Japan's western main island of Kyushu, that I noticed the small print: "We are an unmanned business hotel."Unmanned? I had missed that little word. I wasn't even sure what "unmanned" really meant. And anyway, in this gender-sensitive day and age, shouldn't it be "unpersonned"? And did this mean NO human staff at all? Would there be anyone to help with luggage or check-in problems?

BANGKOK -- Stunning gains by resistance forces in Myanmar and resulting shifts in territorial control between key armed groups have prompted concerned countries -- notably China, the U.S., Thailand and Japan -- to recalibrate their stances toward the military regime. DiscussionWe studied over 2000 HOB events in adults and children at 13 US hospitals, with the motivation to inform development of HOB as a healthcare quality measure. Among 1789 HOB events with non-commensal organisms, gastrointestinal (including neutropenic translocation) (35%) and endovascular (32%) were the most common sources, and overall, 36% of non-commensal HOB events were rated potentially preventable.

It has also fueled concerns about mass displacement and the destruction of dwellings amid spiraling communal tensions between ethnic Rakhine and Rohingya.

BANGKOK -- Moves by Thailand and Japan to engage with Myanmar's resistance indicate a shift in policies that previously favored Naypyitaw's military regime and excluded key resistance organizations such as the parallel National Unity Government. These include a growing crackdown on Thai involvement in supplying and supporting scam centers run by Chinese and local criminal groups inside Myanmar's Karen state, near the Thai-Myanmar border.
