LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - 20% of Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. So, taking care of you and your family’s skin while outdoors is important. Dr. Gabriel Vidal, radiation oncologist at the Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma, said everyone living in Oklahoma is exposed to the sun, especially those who work outside like farmers, ranchers and gardeners. “Skin cancer is not a disease that will happen quickly,” Dr. Vidal said.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Trying to know what your loved one wants when they’re in the hospital, unable to speak, is hard, which is why Comanche County Memorial Hospital’s Chaplain Paul Gore said you need to have those conversations and documents filled out beforehand. He said the question in the ICU after a patient reaches a certain point is always, “What does the patient want?” He said they’re asking their family members or legal representatives about their wishes.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Officials with the City of Lawton have raised the gates at both Lake Lawtonka and Lake Ellsworth. Six of Lake Lawtonka’s eight gates are now open to 34-inches each. Over at Lake Ellsworth, 12 of the lake’s 16 gates are open 10-inches each. The website showing the gate operations says both lakes are 100-percent full. LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Giving the gift of life through organ donation is not an easy decision. April is Organ and Tissue Donation awareness month and Comanche County Memorial Hospital with LifeShare Oklahoma is remembering the seven donors and celebrating the selfless act they did to save 18 lives. Larissa Krusinsky and her husband made the decision to donate her daughter Jaedyn’s organs after she passed away back in 2012.
