Jan Giles and Adrian Sykes from Binalong, a village of 500 people in southern New South Wales, were "appalled" by the way Mr Zelensky was treated. "I was disgusted because here's this man, coming for help and he's belittled," Ms Giles said. "It's schoolyard bullying and we don't accept that anywhere.

The federal Nationals candidate for Calare, Sam Farraway, has been criticised by a First Nations group for allegedly spreading misinformation. Mr Farraway has made repeated claims the Bathurst 1000 could be "at risk" over a sacred site application made in 2022. The Indigenous group says it is exploring legal options surrounding alleged defamatory comments made.

More than half a dozen people have been injured in a crash on a major highway between Sydney and Canberra. Emergency services were called to the Hume Highway at Marulan, east of Goulburn, after a van reportedly rolled around midday. Paramedics assessed seven people with injuries and three helicopters were called to the scene. The highway remains closed in a southbound direction and significant delays are expected. More to come.

The bodies of two men who died in a plane crash off the New South Wales Mid North Coast have been recovered. Emergency services were called to Nambucca Heads on the Coffs Harbour coast just after 4pm Saturday afternoon, after a light aircraft crashed into the water. Two people died at the scene, with the body of a man recovered from the plane yesterday, according to a statement from NSW Police. The second body was recovered a short time ago. Both are yet to be formally identified.

The theft of more than $200,000 worth of antique guns has left the the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum on the brink of closure, raising concerns about the future of 35,000 UNESCO-listed documents and 130 historical machines kept onsite. The facility has been closed since late August after three men allegedly broke in and stole 27 handguns. The men have been charged with multiple offences that remain before the courts. According to police, 19 of the weapons have been recovered.
