Three minors detained in Borno State for allegedly participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest remain in custody despite a recent directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; ordering their immediate release. President Tinubu's directive, issued three days ago, led to the release of minors held in Abuja. But the Borno minors' defence counsel Barrister Yakubu Alhaji Adamu, said they are still held in a juvenile facility in Maiduguri, following a court order.

The severe flooding which ravaged Maiduguri, the Borno State capital has claimed at least 30 lives, officials said yesterday. Hundreds of homes were flooded by the incident, which also caused significant damage to properties, including farmlands, residential areas, and business premises. The disaster followed the collapse of the Alau Dam, which overflowed its banks, sending floodwaters from about 10 kilometres away into Maiduguri.

Boko Haram insurgents have abducted Justice Haruna Mshelia, a High Court judge, alongside his wife, driver and orderly. It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday afternoon along the Buratai-Buni-gari road as Justice Mshelia was returning to Maiduguri, where he serves at the Borno State High Court. Sources reveal that the judge's vehicle was intercepted by armed men who emerged from the bush, and then barricaded the road.

Governor Babagana Umar Zulum of Borno State has said health workers in the employment of the government who agree to work in rural areas would get a 30 per cent increase on their current salaries. The governor disclosed this at the flag-off of the distribution of N100,000 and food items to elderly people (65 years and older) under the Renewed Hope Initiative of the country’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

The Borno State government has asked land title holders in Maiduguri to update their records and develop or submit building plans before December 31 or risk revocation. The Executive Secretary of Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), Engr Adam Bababe, gave the warning in a statement yesterday. He said, “BOGIS Pilot scheme issued notices since June 2020 that the government shall revoke all titles that fail to update their records, develop/submit building plans by 31st of December 2023.
