Eversource, the state's other major power company, reported 430 outages elsewhere in the state Thursday evening, with most seen in Brookfield and East Lyme. BRIDGEPORT — Nearly 3,000 homes and businesses were without power in Bridgeport Thursday evening, United Illuminating's outage map showed. The outage map showed that 2,996 customers were without power as of 5:41 p.m. Thursday, though the cause was initially unclear.

HARTFORD - A 4-year-old fell from a third-floor window at a home on Judson Street, Hartford police said Thursday evening. Police are investigating the fall, which happened on the 50 block of Judson Street and appears accidental, Hartford police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said in an email. The child is facing a very "minor injury, if any," Boisvert said. Boisvert did not immediately respond to additional questions. This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.

SPRAGUE - A Sprague man who was arrested for using a recording device in the women's bathroom of a Norwich Walmart earlier this month has been suspended from his job at a local school, officials said. Grayson Weir, 21, was charged with breach of peace, voyeurism and risk of injury to a minor for using a recording device in the women's restroom before fleeing the store, Norwich police said following the May 12 incident.

HARTFORD - A Ledyard man is facing child exploitation offenses after authorities say he was found with a cache of child sexual abuse material while on probation for a similar crime, the second time he has violated conditions of his release, federal officials said.

GREENWICH - The Greenwich Police Department said a retired officer who served the department for 28 years has died. Robert Hansen Jr., the son of retired Detective Robert Hansen Sr., died at 63, police said in a Facebook post Wednesday evening. He retired March 1, 2016, police said. Police said Robert Hansen Jr., who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1980 to 1984, started his career at the department on Aug. 28, 1987.
