BAY CO., Mich. (WNEM) – The former Wenona School in Bay City has been put up for auction. On Monday, May 12, the Bay County Land Bank Authority said it is extending an invitation to the public to bid on the property, which is located at 313 Wenona Ave. in Bay City. Anyone who is interested in bidding will need to complete a purchase application, which can be found on the land bank’s website. The minimum bid starts at $3,500, the land bank said. Bidding will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

In October 2023, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed two bills into law requiring blood lead testing levels for all children at 12 months and 24 months of age.

OWOSSO, Mich. (WNEM) – A person was taken into custody near Hopkins Lake in Owosso on Friday, May 2. A shelter-in-place was issued at about 4:45 p.m. for people in the area while police investigated an armed person in the area. Baker College had issued an emergency lockdown notice as well, saying anyone who was not on campus should stay away until further notice.
