The sun was shining but the water was frigid as hundreds of people signed up for a big event in support of Special Olympics Ontario. The Waterloo Regional Police Service held a Polar Plunge at their headquarters on Maple Grove Road in Cambridge. The first volunteers took the leap of faith at 1 p.m., testing the waters for everyone else who watched on from the sidelines, steeling their nerve for the icy dip.

Two living kidney donors are gearing up for an extraordinary adventure to show the world that donating an organ doesn't just save lives—it can open up new possibilities. Mary McFarlane from Bright, Ont. and Connie Rodgers from just north of Elmira, Ont., are preparing to summit three Guatemalan volcanoes in just under two weeks, tackling more than 8,000 feet of elevation. "I think since donation, wellness and fitness has just become more of a focus for me," Rodgers told CTV News.

Inspired by a beloved animated character, from the ‘Despicable Me’ movie franchise, they’ve built a smaller electric version of Gru’s iconic vehicle from scratch.
And they did it in less than a week.

After almost five years of searching and never giving up hope, the Tuffin family received the best Christmas gift they could have hoped for: being reunited with their long-lost puppy. Nova, a bulldog mixed breed, went missing the day after Christmas in 2019 when she was just over one-year-old. Fast forward to this past November, Nova was found wandering aimlessly on a rural road miles away from her family's home. As of Saturday morning, she's rejoined with her owner, Kristan Tuffin.

Earlier this month, Notre-Dame opened its doors after five years of construction work. The two-day reopening ceremony saw the cathedral filled to the brim with thousands of people, including celebrities, politicians and heads of state. A male driver has been charged following a collision in Guelph Tuesday morning. Police say officers were called to Edinburgh Road, just north of Manor Park Crescent, around 8:25 a.m. for a report of a woman being hit be a vehicle. The 23-year-old woman was reportedly hit while she was crossing at the pedestrian crossover. She was airlifted to St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto to receive treatment for her injuries.

A 4-month-old baby has been seriously hurt following an alleged assault in Hanover, Ont. last week.
The Hanover Police Service said they received a report in the early morning hours of Oct. 30 of an injured 4-month-old baby who was treated at the emergency department of the Hanover and District Hospital.
According to police, the baby was later airlifted to a London hospital in serious but stable condition.
