    HOUGHTON, Mich. - Crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be performing routine bridge inspections on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge between the cities of Houghton and Hancock from June 2nd to 4th. These inspections will require intermittent closures. In conjunction with the routine inspection work, some test lifts may be done on the same dates.

    Marquette, MI - The NMU Center for Rural Health will host a UP Future Health Leaders Camp this summer for regional students who will be freshmen and sophomores at the university this fall. The camp, which focuses on health education and health career exploration, is scheduled July 20-25.     Schoolcraft County, MI – State Police from the Manistique post are investigating a two-vehicle crash that temporarily closed down US-2 in Doyle Township. All lanes of US-2 were reopened a short time later. The crash happened yesterday (Tuesday) at about 4:30pm when a pickup truck failed to yield to a semi-truck pulling a trailer eastbound on US-2 near County Road 432. No life-threatening injuries were reported. A small spill of fuel from the crash was contained and cleaned up.

    Gogebic County, MI - The Michigan State Police - Wakefield Post is teaming up with Gogebic Community College to offer a Law Enforcement Career Academy. The academy is open to individuals aged 16 and older and is for those curious about careers in law enforcement. Participants will be mentored by MSP troopers and officers from other local law enforcement agencies.
