Mike Lauria says he was just “sick and tired of something controlling my life” when he decided to seek help. He had been drinking about 12 (sometimes more) shots of 100-proof alcohol a day at that point. Then he reached out to The Ridge, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in eastern Connecticut. It wasn’t open yet, so Lauria, now 50, waited. It was worth the wait, he said. He turned out to be a patient on its first day of operation in January 2024.
