He had been drinking about 12 (sometimes more) shots of 100-proof alcohol a day at that point. Then he reached out to The Ridge, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in eastern Connecticut. It wasn’t open yet, so Lauria, now 50, waited. It was worth the wait, he said. He turned out to be a patient on its first day of operation in January 2024.
