This article originally appeared in the LGC. The new government seem bullish in their commitment to providing authorities with multi-year funding settlements and ending wasteful competitive bidding. Meanwhile a Bill proposed in last week’s Kings Speech will see more power devolved to the local level, albeit via combined authorities. But it is also clear that there is much still to be resolved about the future role that this government sees for our councils.

3.10 Antibiotics Azithromycin and roxithromycin are antibiotics that have shown some senolytic activity in human cells. This was revealed in a screen of 15 approved antibiotics in a model featuring BrdU-treated MRC-5 and BJ fibroblasts (Ozsvari et al., 2018). Moreover, the antibiotic nigericin was found to induce senolysis in several cell types (Deryabin et al., 2022). This is consistent with prior reports indicating it could disrupt various homeostatic systems in mammalian cells.
