R. Thomas Deluxe Grill The quirkiest restaurant on Peachtree Street in Buckhead is now up for sale. R. Thomas Deluxe Grill, known for its late-night hours and famous birds at the entrance — Ruby the parrot, Peaches and Cream the cockatoos, and their raisin-loving toucan — will be sold, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Richard Thomas opened the restaurant in 1985 as a 24-hour spot serving a healthier spin on breakfast, lunch, and late-night food.

With patio season in full swing in Atlanta — pollen-covered patios, that is — this month is marked with a good amount of freshness at restaurants. Seafood is at centerfold, with vibrant ceviches, huge portions of snapper, and the most velvety salmon you’ve ever had. Along with the seafood, are cocktails and margaritas galore. Hayakawa Chef Atsushi “Art” Hayakawa of the one-Michelin-starred Hayakawa sushi restaurant posted a candid video on Instagram this weekend explaining why the omakase prices at his restaurant are about to rise. He says he has received word from his wholesalers and distributors that the tax on Japanese ingredients will increase by 24 percent beginning next week.

MJT & Co. There may be wafts of grilled meats and chili peppers in the air on North Highland Avenue next week. You can blame Tio Lucho’s for it. Starting this Monday, Tio Lucho’s is introducing a new pop-up on the restaurant’s patio. It’s called Hermanita (which means little sister in Spanish, referring to the pop-up as Tio Lucho’s sibling), where you’ll find James Beard-nominated chef Arnaldo Castillo hanging back and grilling street-side.
