But while this horrifying spectacle is new, Musk’s strategy of simply ignoring rules he doesn’t like is not. It is one that he has implemented throughout his career, and coupled with almost complete impunity for powerful wealthy men, this strategy has allowed him to become the figure he is today.

On February 5th, eight senators sent a letter to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles asking her to “[p]rovide a list of personnel operating under DOGE, their position or role, and their duties.”In lieu of government transparency, all that we can rely on are media reports and other already public evidence.
