One can only imagine Brian Clough’s reaction to Nottingham Forest’s owner coming on to the pitch in such a furious mood. It’s fair to say the late, great Forest manager would have despatched Evangelos Marinakis back to the smart seats sharpish. Marinakis delivered some strong words to Nuno Espirito Santo, whether out of frustration with the dropped points against Leicester City or voicing anger over the medical staff handling’s of Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury - or both.

Crystal Palace fans started chanting 'ole' at one point during the second half of their 2-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was to mark a neat passing move which came to nothing but had sparkled with brief promise. It was worth an 'ole' or three. Except it was a rare Spurs passing move. Palace fans were chanting mockingly. Spurs were that poor. This was a tale of two finalists, and two differing approaches by their managers.

It was a moment both chilling and thrilling. Lamine Yamal could have taken the ball down to the corner flag as the clock ticked past 90 minutes, protecting Barcelona’s 3-2 lead and inching them closer to the Champions League final. Running down the clock would have been the professional, sensible, joyless thing to do. Yamal didn’t hesitate. He went for goal. Many moments shaped the unforgettable Inter Milan-Barcelona semi-final of 2025.

Cole Palmer again, ole, ole. So sang the Chelsea fans, over and over, with glee and a touch of relief. Palmer was back scoring again, back in form again, and Chelsea were looking even more nailed on for a Champions League place. Against Liverpool on Sunday, Palmer scored his first goal since the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on January 14, 18 games ago. He’d scored 14 in the preceding 23, and then the tap seemed turned off. Criticism was turned on online.
