1 Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the primary malignancy of the liver and is the predominant cancer type in China, with high global prevalence.[1] Recently, methods for diagnosing and treating HCC have substantially improved.[2] However, many patients still miss the opportunity for radical surgery because of early intrahepatic metastasis.[3] Therefore, factors that facilitate metastasis should be further explored to improve early diagnosis rates.
