1. IntroductionMultiple acute ischemic stroke (MAIS) is most frequently attributed to an “embolic phenomenon,” such as atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common cause of cardioembolic stroke (1). MAIS also can be an initial presentation of malignancy that is commonly undiagnosed (2). Nearly 15% of patients with malignancy experience cerebrovascular events (3), and 1 in 10 patients admitted with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) have comorbid malignancy (4).
