Blackwood Primary School issued a message to parents warning them about reports of a man hiding and "jumping out at people" near the site in Caerphilly county. The message said: "School would like to make you aware that a man was hiding in bushes by the park over by Apollo Way and jumping out on people.

A man and a woman from Newport have been arrested in a police incident that saw officers carrying bags of knives from a block of flats. Officers from Gwent Police were sent to an address on Penkin Hill, Alway after receiving a call saying a woman was threatening another member of the public on the morning of April 7. At around 9am police were pictured leaving the block of flats with evidence bags full of weapons including large knives.

A Welsh backpacker has gone missing while travelling Bangkok in Thailand and his family have confirmed they have not had contact with him for over four weeks. Daniel Davies, from Llanelli, last spoke to his family on March 13, when he had been staying at the Hangover Hostel in Bangkok.

Man hospitalised A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: We received a report of a road traffic collision on Victoria Road, Abertillery, at around 7.30am on Tuesday 18 March. Officers attended, alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service. The collision involved a car and a motorbike. A man was taken to hospital for treatment.
